First Look at What New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Will Look Like

24 Jan

This pic leaked a few days ago from upcoming Halloween costumes based on the new Michael Bay produced movie.  This interpretation of Michelangelo doesn’t exactly inspire confidence and neither is the fact that the studio has not released a trailer or even a tear movie poster for the new turtles reboot.  Fingers still crossed on this one.

9 Hours Left to Help Get MENSCHEN to Film Festivals!

6 Sep

ImagePlease support a great film that was made here in beautiful Colorado by some great and talented people.  Here is more about the project:

MENSCHEN is German word for “human beings”. The film challenges prejudice behind stereotypes like “enemy”, “disabled”, or even “hero”.

SPRING 1945, the war is over but the fight to survive goes on. The Wehrmacht forces are weary from retreat, the Allies are closing in. A single Austrian captain attempts to guide his platoon behind the Russian lines to surrender to the Americans. They take under their wing a young man with a severe disability. As the loyalty of the captain’s men is tested, the bond with the boy evokes a painful secret from the past.

MENSCHEN is a German-language U.S/Austrian co-production. The film was shot entirely in the state of Colorado in Spring 2012.

X-Men First Class Sequel & The Wolverine Updates

11 Jul

Good news coming in on these movies.  It looks like James Mangold helmed Wolverine sequel or The Wolverine is set to start shooting next month.  The film’s release date is July 26th 2013.  So far according to Variety, Fox and James Mangold have found the villain for their upcoming Wolverine movie in the form of Will Yun Lee. The site reports that – “details of the Harada character are being kept under wraps and production is scheduled to begin next month in Australia.”  Rumor has it that Lee is set to play Wolverine’s nemesis in the film, The Silver Samurai.

Additionally, four more actors have been cast in supporting roles.  Hiroyuki Sanada (“Lost,” Rush Hour 3, The Last Samurai) is set to play Shingen; veteran actorHal Yamanouchi (The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Push, Sinbad of the Seven Seas) plays Yashida; and new discoveries Tao Okamoto and Rila [frick]ushima will star as Mariko and Yukio, respectively.

And on to the main event… the sequel to 2011’s X-Men: First Class.  There are only a few things to report but I’ll save the best for last.  First, filming is set to start on the untitled sequel in January (date was pushed back to allow Jennifer Lawrence to shoot The Hunger Games sequel).  Second, the film has an official release date of July 18th 2014.  And last but certainly not least…

Fox recently registered the name “Days of Future Past” with the MPAA.  Could this be a clue for the direction Vaughn is taking the X-Men franchise?  If it is then there are no words to explain how amazing this could be.  The possibilites are endless. For starters we could get a movie with the First Class cast and characters from Bryan Singer’s original X-Men trilogy.  We could also get time traveling mutants such as Cable or Bishop.  There is a big possibility of really seeing sentinels fight mutants the way everyone wants to see it (X3 doesn’t count).  And here is in my opinion the biggest plus for doing a DOFP story:  It could potentially fix all continuity problems and undo established movies and events all together, like X3 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

After the incredible success of The Avengers it’s not the most impossible thing in the world that Fox may be considering doing their own ensemble mega mutant movie.  Well I’m keeping my fingers crossed (in an “X”) until we learn more!

Michael Bay Rapes The Fond Childhood Memories of Ninja Turtle Fans Everywhere

20 Mar

I’ve loved comics and superhero stories and characters for as long as I can remember, from He-Man, to Ghostbusters to The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to anything and everything Marvel.  Although we (my brothers and I) switched from hero to hero until we eventually found The X-Men, there will always be a special place in our hearts for all the characters we grew up with.  Playing dress up in our home made costumes, buying the toys, playing with the toys, then eventually loosing the toys and crying about it are all memories that make me smile and miss the simpler days of life.  So needless to say its exciting for me to hear that hollywood is working on bringing on some of these beloved characters back to the big screen, complete with big budgets, CGI technology and a movie going audience and industry that is much better at respecting the source material than it did in the 80’s and 90’s.

There has been talk the last few years of revamping the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle franchise with a new movie.  Every so often a small bit of news would leak that would lead fans to believe the project was on track and since one of the original creators of the “Hero’s in a Half Shell” was said to be a part of the project.  Then one day a name was attached to the project that sent chills down the spine of fans of mutated amphibian fans all throughout the world.  That name was Michael Bay.

At a recent media event, when asked about the upcoming 2013 turtles movie Bay said “These turtles are from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely lovable” This statement was met with nothing less than a fiery barrage of  disgust from fans everywhere.

The story developed more today as former Michelangelo voice Robbie Rist released this letter he wrote to Michael Bay to TMZ.  Here it is:

“You probably don’t know me but I did some voice work on the first set of movies that you are starting to talk about sodomizing.”

Rist added, “I know believing in mutated talking turtles is kinda silly to begin with but am I supposed to be led to believe there are ninjas from another planet? The rape of our childhood memories continues … ”

Still, Rist tells TMZ … “Everything I have said here could be off base and wrong … He has made WAY more money at this than I have.”

Then today following Rist’s letter, Michael Bay on his Shoot For The Edit Message Board had this to say:

“Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.”

So basically he is standing by the alien/other dimensional turtle mess of an idea.  Let’s see if the growing backlash from TNMT fans is enough to put this project back on track.
