5 Jun

So it looks like the cat might be out of the bag as Latino Review once again tips off the world to some very interesting movie news:   Black Panther is reportedly one Marvel’s unknown upcoming movies due in 2014 along side the sequel top 2011’s Captain America.    Here is what Latino Review said:

THE BLACK PANTHER is going to headline his own film! How do I know? Let’s say I got it from FOUR different trusted sources. Last year, it was reported that Marvel hired Mark Bailey to pen the script and I hear the script is fantastic.

If this is true expect confirmation from Marvel very soon.  Exciting news!  Hope he is in new Avengers film!

Anchor Man Sequel is Finally Happening!

29 Mar

Last night on Conan O’Brien Will Ferrell said (in character as Ron Burgundy) the following: “I want to announce this to all of our friends in the Americas, Spain, Turkey and the U.K. — including England — that as of 0900 mountain time, Paramount pictures and myself … have come to terms on a sequel to ‘Anchorman,’” Ferrell said to massive audience applause. “There will be a sequel.”

Deadline aslo reported that co-stars Steve Carell and Paul Rudd will aslo reprise their roles of Brick Tamblan and  Brian Fantanna.

To say that Armando and I are excited would be a major understatement.  We will blog updates on this project as they come.

Michael Bay Rapes The Fond Childhood Memories of Ninja Turtle Fans Everywhere

20 Mar

I’ve loved comics and superhero stories and characters for as long as I can remember, from He-Man, to Ghostbusters to The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to anything and everything Marvel.  Although we (my brothers and I) switched from hero to hero until we eventually found The X-Men, there will always be a special place in our hearts for all the characters we grew up with.  Playing dress up in our home made costumes, buying the toys, playing with the toys, then eventually loosing the toys and crying about it are all memories that make me smile and miss the simpler days of life.  So needless to say its exciting for me to hear that hollywood is working on bringing on some of these beloved characters back to the big screen, complete with big budgets, CGI technology and a movie going audience and industry that is much better at respecting the source material than it did in the 80’s and 90’s.

There has been talk the last few years of revamping the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle franchise with a new movie.  Every so often a small bit of news would leak that would lead fans to believe the project was on track and since one of the original creators of the “Hero’s in a Half Shell” was said to be a part of the project.  Then one day a name was attached to the project that sent chills down the spine of fans of mutated amphibian fans all throughout the world.  That name was Michael Bay.

At a recent media event, when asked about the upcoming 2013 turtles movie Bay said “These turtles are from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely lovable” This statement was met with nothing less than a fiery barrage of  disgust from fans everywhere.

The story developed more today as former Michelangelo voice Robbie Rist released this letter he wrote to Michael Bay to TMZ.  Here it is:

“You probably don’t know me but I did some voice work on the first set of movies that you are starting to talk about sodomizing.”

Rist added, “I know believing in mutated talking turtles is kinda silly to begin with but am I supposed to be led to believe there are ninjas from another planet? The rape of our childhood memories continues … ”

Still, Rist tells TMZ … “Everything I have said here could be off base and wrong … He has made WAY more money at this than I have.”

Then today following Rist’s letter, Michael Bay on his Shoot For The Edit Message Board had this to say:

“Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.”

So basically he is standing by the alien/other dimensional turtle mess of an idea.  Let’s see if the growing backlash from TNMT fans is enough to put this project back on track.

Allow Me To Submit This for Your Approval… Rod Serling Biopic is Coming!

30 Jun

Anyone who knows me well knows that I’m a huge fan of The Twilight Zone.  Its one of my all time favorite shows and I even own the complete 156 episode series!  I really think today’s modern Hollywood won’t be what it was if not for this great and innovative show.  I can’t even begin to count the movies and TV shows that at worst borrowed material and at best, took inspiration from this beloved series.  It was ahead of its time and its messages still hold water today.  I don’t know of many films from the silver age that tackled issues like racism, sexual equality, mental illness and several social issues that were present at the time.

I’m a maven when it comes to things I’m passionate about.  I often feel like its my job to let people know about great things that could bring them joy that they might have not come across without my intervention.  The Twilight Zone is one of those things that I try and get people into.  Today I read some great news that will make my job a lot easier…

Deadline is reporting that a deal was just made between Andrew Meiran of Bureau of Moving Pictures and Carol Serling (widow of Rod Serling) to make a biopic of Rod Serling, the creative driving force behind The Twilight Zone.  Carol Serling will be a producer on the film and the films screenplay will be written by frequent Oliver Stone collaborator Stanley Weiser.

This is awesome news for anyone that appreciates the work of the late Mr. Serling.  It looks like the projects is in good hands too!  We’ll keep you posted once we learn more.
